INTRODUCTION
To deliver defined Distribution Centre (DC) Supply chain operations through operational excellence in a cost effective way within the agreed service levels.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge & process understanding of logistics & related distribution processes
- Have a working knowledge of inventory management (Warehouse and C&GM) at operations management level
- PC literacy and is able to capture information and produce reports based on the Warehouse Management System
- Ability to anticipate issues & opportunities & act on them pro-actively
- Problem solving ability (e.g. day to day operations)
- Ability to analyse and interpret figures and information
- Asset management
- Understanding of consequential impacts of decisions made. – i.e. good judgment
- Understand financial and performance indicators and is able to act according to agreed targets
- Able to adapt to working hours in accordance with business needs
- Able to work in different temperature controlled regimes e.g. the Cold Chain and Frozens areas
- Able to manage a diverse workforce
- Understanding of process compliance
- Proven people skills e.g. facilitation, conflict, change management, performance management and employee relations management
What theoretical knowledge (e.g. degree / diploma) does the job require?
- Logistics and Supply Chain / Commerce / Business Degree / Diploma
- Quality assurance background in support of the OEC and continuous improvement
- Exposure to six sigma
What experience (e.g. previous exposure) does the job require?
- 3-4 years relevant Supply Chain working experience
- Experience in managing a large diverse workforce and relevant employee relations
- Working in a Retail /FMCG environment would be an advantage

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Influence and provide input to the development of the Business Unit’s (BU’s) 1 year operating plan, budget, scorecard and ensure delivery thereof
- Ensure effective utilisation of resources to deliver cost effective availability
- Drive operational excellence through integration with all relevant stakeholders
- Effectively use INVOCOMs to ensure team goals are met in order to achieve the scorecard objectives as per the BU’s strategy
- Review volumes and ensure optimal planning to meet DC agreed objectives
- Contribute to BU Continuity Planning and ensure adequate contingencies are in place in order to achieve operational requirements
- Manage and integrate the delivery of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with key stakeholders e.g. Transport, Trunking, Cross-Docking and the Equipment Centre
- Implement the agreed continuous improvement activities to reduce cost and improve service delivery
- Manage the end to end processes against the standards set out in the Operational Excellence Charter (OEC); in line with Best Operating Practices
- Ensure product integrity e.g. preventing temperature rejection, expired stock and damages
- Deliver the Supply Chain Strategy by demonstrating effective leadership aligned to the Woolworths Values
- Build, develop and entrench a high performance culture within the Supply Chain Operations by providing leadership, guidance, support and hands-on coaching to the managers and staff
- Manage the Supply Chain Operations Employment Equity targets, integrated performance management, talent management, succession planning, reward and recognition and employee relations processes in line with business requirements
- Manage and adhere to Universal Product Network (UPN) policies, procedures and corporate governance principles
- Conduct benchmarking exercises that will provide fresh ideas that will assist in enabling continuous improvement projects
- Deliver sustainable community and environmental based activities
