Job description
Customer
Deliver optimum availability through the application of marketing and customer information into the cataloguing and format plans.
Merchandise Strategy
Develop and summarize the merchandise strategy for the dept in conjunction with Brand strategy input and store opportunities identified
Plan a framework for option numbers against agreed space and within the approved MP parameters, all against agreed seasonal targets
Merchandise Plans
Complete, Revise and review Merchandise and Store plans for all depts. Ensure assortment plans and merchandise plans tie back to space plans to deliver strategy and KPIs.
Space Management
Integrate clustering into the assortment planning process, based on space and number of options. Drive the productivity of space through ongoing performance monitoring.
Product Strategy
Work with the Buyer, Brands and Trade teams to deliver a Product Strategy in line with:
· Post-seasonal analysis (SWOT)
· Application of the attribute framework from trading analysis
· Preparation of documents for presentation of department strategy at the reviews against strategy and KPIs
· Execution of the Brand Strategy
Assortment Planning
Deliver a balanced and detailed assortment plan using the Product and Merchandise strategies taking into account special events and promotions.
Selling prices
Review the price architecture as well as the appropriate number of price points with the Buyer to achieve margin targets.
Buying Margin
Use detailed assortment plan (range plan) to manage intake margin, taking the following into account:
· Marketing and visuals into dept selling strategy to optimize selling opportunity
· Events and promotions ensuring financial KPI targets are met
Gross Profit
Present markdown strategies and control stock to deliver to markdown targets
Control the open to buy and manage stock levels to agreed commitment targets at every stage of the supply chain
Supply Chain Management
Management of stock commitment, reporting and targets at all levels of the Supply Chain.
Critical path Management
Ensure dept adherence to Critical path and Woolworths Merchandise Cycle timelines
Channel Planning
Identifying any potential sales in formats to gain market share
Availability
Manage the intake and flow of stock. Ensure production is scheduled with suppliers with ongoing management to be in line with critical path availability into stores
Ensure efficient warehouse utilization & adhere to business processes to ensure accurate allocation and replenishment to meet store/customer demand.
In season Trading
Review actuals vs proj and adjust forecasts of sales and stock balances through the chain. Optimise in-season trading opportunities for depts.
Identify the opportunities to increase or decrease product in season and efficiently manage inventory with suppliers through weekly standstill meetings.
Review and revise merchandise planning in line with trading ensuring delivery to all KPIs and commitment control (zero tolerance of over commitment)
Event Planning
Planning stock and sales around key beauty events in line with sales plans, growth projections and brand offerings
Minimum requirements
• Preferably a relevant business diploma / degree (Retail business management/BCom/ /BScience/BA)
• 2-3 years planning experience
• Extensive Retail knowledge
• Technically strong merchandising skills
• Merchant and retail ability: demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the market place, competitors and customer needs
• Knowledge of business IT systems (including Forecasting and Replenishment, RMS etc)
• Knowledge of Product lead times to formulate a working critical path
• Ability to formulate strategies and implement shorter-term tactical plans that are cost – effective efficient and realistic
• Analytical and interpretative ability
• Business acumen: an understanding of basic business processes and how sales are generated and the ability to achieve these goals
• Computer literate: advanced Excel Skills and ability to operate in a Windows based environment
• Assertiveness and influencing ability
